"This will be my first triathlon. I have wanted to do one for a long time and since having a significant weight loss, I feel that I can do it. I just had my first child and look forward to teaching him good health habits. He and dad will cheer me on."
- Genella (34, Stillwater)
"I had lots of fun! I can't thank you enough for putting on this women's event and giving me the resources I needed to compete. The support of everyone involved was fantastic. Bravo!"

New in 2009
New Website: Check it out if you haven't seen it for a while. We now have pictures and quotes from last year's event!
Ask a Coach: Got a training or racing question? Email triathlon@ywcampls.org with anything and we'll get you an answer or at least the lead you need. Paul Johnson, a certified USA Triathlon coach and race director, with help from the race management team and YWCA fitness professionals, are ready to support you!
Training Support: We are now including a 12-week Training Plan to complement the 12-week Training Template. They will be available by May. Be sure to Ask a Coach if you have questions before then!
Course Preview Workshop: Knowing the course is one of the best strategies for beginners and competitive triathletes alike. Get a visual of the swim, walk the transition area, and bike the run and bike courses.
Strong Fast Fit Youth: Proceeds this year will benefit the YWCA's Strong Fast Fit program - a year-long program for Native American and Latino youth and their families to prevent obesity and diabetes. The youth engage in weekly nutrition education and fitness activities including training for events such as Twin Cities Marathon 1 Mile and 5K, the YWCA Splash n Dash and the MiracleKids Triathlon.
Greener Event: We are exploring ways to be greener and reduce our carbon footprint. For example, no plastic bottled water this year. They may be baby steps but we'll share our progress with you.
